The Ties That Bind
"Oh you people, reverence you Guardian Lord, Who created you from one soul and created from her a mate and raised up from the two of them numerous men and women." (Quran: Surah 4:1) A ll of humanity has one common origin and regardless ofhow much we multiply or how far we spread out upon the earth, there remain divinely created, indestructible bonds between us. These bonds are in the oneness of our Lord and Creator, the common material from which we are created (earth and water), the intrinsic rhythm to which our hearts are set and the identical oath which we made to our Lord before entering this physical world.(1) These bonds may be strengthened or weakened by beliefs, actions, 105 |
ignorance, awareness and so on, but never severed. In our humanness, we remain on equal footing and interdependent functioning with every other human being. The links between us are strengthened and increased in their level of quality and dignity as we join our hearts in faith, love, and kind service to one another.
"And hold fast to the rope of Allah and be not divided, and remember Allah’s favor on you. For you were enemies and He joined your hearts (in love) so that you became, by His grace, brothers…" The joining of hearts is estimated to be one of the strongest, integrating, connective forces in the universe. Once this connection is made there remains an invisible stream of energy between the two entities, which endures as long as the physical life continues.(3) Because there is a frequency to every thought, feeling, sound, etc.,
